Chosen Solution

When replacing screen with an OEM Service pack from a reputable supplier, I have lost the functionality of my selfie camera. While testing in old screen, selfie camera works. I have double checked my supplier and found that this screen only works on non-verizon models. This OEM Service pack comes with a camera not compatible with the verizon main-board. Solution is to get a screen that is compatible which isn’t available at time of posting.

I faced the same issue with a customer’s S20+. Display-assembly replacement came with small-parts, including a front-facing camera. After installing everything into the replacement display, everything worked except the front-facing camera. So I took it apart again and swapped in the old front-facing camera. Just takes some heat and careful prying. I removed the epoxy first, using curved tweezers, and saved it. The camera popped right out by gently prying it with a plastic spudger. Installed the original camera into the replacement display-assembly, and stuffed the epoxy back in. Everything worked out.

Can you transfer the old camera to the new screen?

i believe the issue here is the cameras on the OEM screens are the international cameras, you should be able to replace it with a us camera, (just replaced one in a S20 Plus Ultra

its repairable. there are 2 different versions of the front camera. most aftermarket lcd assemblys come with the international or over seas version of the while the device was probably a US version ( u or u1) Just oder a replacement camera and make sure it’s for the specific version of the phone.

Its due to difference in version of screens if replaced

Hi. My front camera worked just fine as i facetime my kids just minutes before my screen got cracked. Had it replaced now twice cause of front camera not working and “camera failed” pops up when opening camera app. Cleared cache, safe mode and did the factory reset. Nothing. Can it be the screen itself?

I’m having this same issue on the US version. I ordered the Samsung service pack which I assume is the international version of the screen and frame. I removed and reinstalled my original (US version) front-facing camera and it does not focus in the new screen/frame. Has it been determined that the US version front facing camera does not function properly in the international version screen/frame?
