Chosen Solution

I just installed all software on my new Garmin, maps are updated and enabled. When I try to plan a trip and enter an address I get the message “Map data is not available”. I have tried everything but the GPS is not much good if I can’t put an address into it! Update (08/22/2017) It will allow me to choose the destination on the map, so I think the map is good. But when choosing the address option, I get the message.

Garmin Express software will automatically update software and download a map to the nuvi 2595. It can take hours, and if interrupted it may fail. My computer went to sleep while waiting for download, so I got the “map unavailable“ error message but also “You’re up to date “ message with the current software version. I changed computer sleep settings in Control Panel, then reloaded the map with Garmin Express. When completed you can see the map name and version under Settings/Map&Vehicle/myMaps with a green check mark. Under Settings/Device/About/Detailed maps you can see mapmaker and copyright info with recent date.

Ensure the map is enabled on the device To see which maps are loaded and ensure they are enabled: Touch Tools Touch Settings Touch Map Touch Info Within this section you will be able to see all of the mapping loaded onto the device. If there is no checkmark next to the map(s) listed, touch the box to add a check. This will enable the mapping on the device.
