My new SSD is not appearing in my disk utility. This happened the first time after installing the new SSD, but after taking the new SSD out and putting it back in. The SSD appeared but when I tried to erase and reformat the new SSD my mac said it could not erase the disk. After I clicked ok on this window the SSD no longer appeared in my disk utility again. Am I missing something or is it possible something else is broken?
The hard drive/IR cable is notorious for going bad. Even Apple was replacing it for free for a while. When replacing put pads on either side of the cable as it comes over the last step and onto the optical drive.
