Can My Battery Compartment Closure Be Fixed Canon Powershot A720 Is

My battery compartment on my Canon Powershot A720 no longer closes completely. I think I broke the pins(?) that keep it closed. Can it be replaced/fixed?

A replacement battery cover can be found on eBay. Alternatively, you could keep it closed using tape or velcro.
