Hey Guys I’m about to attempt a topcase (upper case) replacement on my 17" unibody mid 2010. Not very many replacements available that I can find and seems the 2011’s that I’ve come across are in better shape. Can I use a 2011 top case or does it have to be a mid 2010? Thanks, Jason
All I can confirm is that a 2009 top case will not fit a 2010 motherboard for the a1297. Unfortunately I didn’t determine that until I put in a couple hours of wasted labour trying to replace the top case… If you’re willing to take a risk in ordering a slightly mismatched topcase, make sure you at least inspect the holes in the side very closely. That would be the biggest giveaway that it would be incompatible, if the ports don’t match.
