I have a busted 2.16HGz 128MB logic board, and have found a 2.16HGz 256MB logic board, can i use that as a replacement? will the extra 128MB be a plus or a problem? tnx
“The 128 MB vs the 256MB is a function of RAM installed, not the mother board. Your machine should be able to take up to 2 GB of RAM:” mayer, I believe he is referring to 128MB vs 256MB of VRAM. Quite commonly the base model 15" has half the VRAM of the upgraded models.
It won’t necessarily fit, for instance a 2.4GHz Penryn board doesn’t fit in a 2.4GHz Santa Rosa (one generation before) computer. Best to stick with the correct generation or else you tend to have problems with temp sensors and whatnot. Although, a Core Duo really isn’t worth the repair.

It could be a core duo and unsuitable for you.
