Hello! I’m looking at purchasing an old 2009 MacBook Pro. Possibly one with a dead logic board or something and fixing / upgrading the machine. Can the 2009 model fit a logic board from, say, 2010, 2011 or maybe even early 2012? Thanks in advance!
Sadly no, you are limited to what was offered in that given series on the most part. So a 2009 13” MacBook Pro series MacBookPro5,5, the 2010 models MacBookPro7,1 are able to share some parts The 2011 models was the first series to use the I Core CPU’s MacBookPro8,1 and the 2012 models is just an update MacBookPro9,2 here again these systems share some parts. You can’t use a logic board across these.
