Can i upgrade my Mac’s processor from a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo to an Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz processor? If this is possible, would I need to upgrade anything else to make this upgrade possible? Note: I am already upgrading my RAM to 8Gb.
Sorry no. The CPU is soldered to the logic board and the logic boards other parts that are not compatible with the newer CPU’s which would need to be changed out. In the end you would have spent three or four systems worth of money re-engineering your system Vs just buying a new one.
Even if the CPU isn’t soldered to the motherboard, the Core 2 and Core i3/5/7 CPUs have different pin and socket configurations.
