Can I swap display assemblies of different colors within the same model? Over the years, I have replaced many a Macbook Pro/Air display assembly. Occasionally, this has meant using an alternate color when the desired color was unavailable (ie: replaced a space gray with a silver one). I just did such a swap with the 2021 Macbook Pro 14-inch (a2442), after being unable to locate a silver one to match the original one that was damaged. Now, it won’t start. I followed all the standard procedures during the servicing (ie: disconnect battery, drain excess power, careful while “under the hood”). Obviously, I’m going to try and charge up the Mac . . . as soon as I can get my hands on the right charger. Until then, I just wanted to make sure this display assembly swap should work. Thanks for any input. Off to find a charger.
If the screen is for the same model, color does not matter, it should work.
Hi From what I know there is no reason why the screen shouldn’t be working as long as it’s the same screen for the model I would try cleaning the isolated connector (both screen and board) to help clean away any microscopic dirt that our human eyes can see! If this doesn’t fix the issue please don’t hesitate to ask Thanks:-)
So sorry ;-{ You face two issues first you need to get a used display assembly as the Camera is calibrated for TrueTone support. Only Apple has the needed tool to do this. The second is Apple now serializes the displays with M series systems as well now.
