I recently bought a 2012 MacBook Pro Retina off eBay, and my friend has a 2015 with a good logic board but damaged display and top case, we’re wondering if its possible for us to swap the logic board out so that I can basically convert my 2012 into a 2015, they’re both 13" i5 models.
Sadly the designs of your two systems prevent the swapping of parts around. The 2012 display uses different signaling than the newer 2015 system.
It’s a good thought, but the boards on these two models are actually quite different in layout and form factor. And some components between the two which won’t be cross compatible. The displays and SSD module for example. The 2015 display if i recall correctly is unique to that model, and the SSD for the 2012 Retina is also pretty unique to that initial run, it uses a different connector altogether than the 2015 model (although realistically, SSD on your friend’s is probably fine, so you could just use that). Even the batteries use a different connector. If you compare these pictures of the two boards it’s pretty easy to tell that don’t resemble each other much.
