I’ve broken my iPhone 7 home button and I need to replace it. I know a after market home button won’t allow the Touch ID to work so would it be possible if I brought a legit iPhone 7 of eBay and use the home button from that in my own iPhone 7 and would it allow me to use Touch ID ?
The only replacement buttons that work on the 7 are those aftermarket home buttons they are called JC Home button (V2). It’s a physical click home button that pairs via Bluetooth and uses a small jumper to connect power to the button.
Touch ID will not work and the button will not work either! The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus appears to take this feature a step further. Home button replacement—or damage to the original home button cable—renders the button completely non-functional: no Touch ID and (here’s the new part) ‘‘’no return-to-menu ability’’’. You can still navigate your phone by turning on Assistive Touch. But for all practical purposes, you’ve got a dead home button. One that you can’t fix on your own or at an independent repair shop.
For an IPhone 7 you probably need a screen replacement(that’s not a big deal other then the price) that’s my suggestion I would get in touch with you local geniuses bar and see what they can tell you if they want to charge you anything for $200 don’t take it. You can buy a new screen from IFIXIT and replace it yourself
No it would not work
