I received from a customer a MacBook Pro mid 2014 She needed a new charger (the Apple Store told them it was the logic board, then she send it to 2 repair shops, where some of them give a piece (I didn’t know which one because I found the issue) So when I booted up and asked her to put her password, it turned on! But the WiFi said there was no hardware installed (i assume it was the airport card) Then I opened and there’s the Airport card, the piece that they took was the right speaker! Can I buy another airport card or has the same issue like the iPhones with touch ID and need to use the exact airport card?
To start with you can switch out the Airport board but I don’t think thats your issue. More often the I/O Board cable has issues. I would try replacing it first. Here’s the IFIXIT guide you’ll need to follow: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 I/O Board Replacement Follow the steps till Step6 then jump down to step17 & 18. Here’s the part you’ll need: MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2013-Early 2015) I/O Board Data Cable. If that doesn’t fix it here’s the IFIXIT guide to replace the AirPort board: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 AirPort Board Replacement and heres the needed part: MacBook Pro 13" and 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Airport/Bluetooth Board
