My macbook is not turning off after i used faulty charger. I don’t have any apple store near me in pakistan. Guy at the repair shop opened laptop and there was sparking near charging port He said processor is faulty and it is not working. He will replace processor in 200$. My question is can processor stop working because of sparking or is it replaceable? Thanks in advance
Sparking is power line type of issue (AC or battery) not CPU! I doubt this guy has the skills or tools to replace your CPU chip, I think he thinks its like a desktop which its not! Even I don’t go that far in any i Series CPU laptop. Here’s a view of the logic board and the CPU which is surface mounted (soldered) to it.
Really your only option is replacing the logic board. sorry ;-{ Here’s your choices: 13” MacBook Pro retina Fn logic boards
