Hello. The battery of my MacBook Pro 13” 2018 are swollen, but the authorized merchant tells me that they don’t replace only the batteries and instead of 129$ of battery replacement I have to pay 425$ for replacement of all bottom part. So I don’t want to pay so much and I want to to this my myself. I tried to find a battery, and I found it, (not original) but one of sellers told me that they don’t sell batteries for a1989 because of they aren’t compatible because of chip T2. Is it true? Can I buy the battery and replace it? Will I have some problems with T2 chip? also, can I use my MacBook without battery while I’m waiting for the shipment of new battery?

This gets tricky! While the battery is available it can’t be shipped by air. So you are limited on where you can get it. As an example in the EU you could get this one 18/19 13” MacBook Pro 13" Battery (4TB ports) Apple P/N 820-01118 and here’s the guide MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2018 Battery Replacement If you have a friend traveling to the UK they could pick it up for you as they can hand carry it on the plane. While you can replace the battery alone, Apple won’t! They only replace the full uppercase which is what the person was trying to tell you as they don’t have a in-house service center. and Apple also requires them to use their parts so that limits them on what they can do. An independent repair outfit is not bound by Apples rules.
