I was wondering if I could remove the magnetron from a 700 w microwave. Would the microwave be safe to turn on without being able to cook anything? Would it still turn on and would all the buttons/timer work ? Next I was wondering if I could then use the power cable that the magnetron used and power something else?
Unless you know how to do it without killing yourself, don’t. Microwaves use tamper-resistant* screws for a reason. The magnetron can (and will kill or sterilize you) when mishandled! *The screws do not hold up with the right bit, but the manufacturers know this. It’s meant to stop casual tinkering, not those who know how to do it safely.
