Chosen Solution

For about two months now, the headphones that I plug into my laptop only play sound through one ear. I suspect that I accidentally yanked too hard on my plug and thats why they stopped working, but I still tried everything I could find on the internet. Most of the solutions include using a qtip with rubbing alcohol to clean out the inside. It has not worked any of the times I tried it. I have also tried blowing air through the jack to see if that would work, but to no avail. My phone plays the headphones just fine, and it is not a software issue. Another solution I could think of was to try and move the headphone jack itself back a little bit but I can’t seem to move it. One last thing I’ve tried is twisting the headphone’s plug around to see if I can maybe get it to work from a certain angle , but that won’t work either. I have been pondering whether or not I should just open up the laptop and see if theres something I can do inside, but I am not great with that kind of stuff and I don’t want to break something on accident. Is there anything I can do from the outside, and if not then what can I do on the inside?

Hi @loganblumenfeld , Unfortunately the audio combo jack is hard mounted on the systemboard and not on a separate module, (see image of Item #11 on p.14 of the maintenance service guide for the laptop, taken from this webpage. The audio combo jack is seen next to the card reader at the front, right side edge of the board Unless it is a faulty connection from the jack to the board, it will be internal to the jack. They cannot be repaired, they have to be replaced. I cannot find a replacement online so hopefully there may be some identifying information on it that will help to find one. The alternative is to use a USB 2.0 mic headphone audio adapter or a USB-C audio mic adapter (supplier examples only)
