A family member borrowed my laptop and accidentally got it wet from the rain. Unfortunately he tried turning it on to see if it works but that caused a small part of the mother board to short circuit. Only the small area near the battery connection of the motherboard has short circuit. Is there anyway I can find parts to fix this or is this laptop gone for good? I have all the tools to help me out and I’m new to fixing electronics so I would appreciate any help.

Baru the very first thing you want to do is to not try to start your computer. Remove the battery. After that you will need to remove the motherboard. Once removed clean it with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a brush. Use something like this guide Repairing iPhone Liquid Damage to check how to clean the board. the guide is for an iPhone but the principle remains the same. Once it is clean and all the corrosion is removed, check the components for anything looking charred or missing. You want to go ahead and post plenty of GOOD pictures with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and hopefully can help you further. Adding images to an existing question Let us know what EXACT model ideapad you have so we can try and find some schematic etc. to help you out.
