I have a speck of dust inside the front end of the lens. Can I take the front end apart to clean it without tearing down the whole camera?
No, it is not possible. To get inside the lens, you have to disassemble nearly everything. You can do it, I have disassembled my HX400V for another issue, but also cleaned the lenses with success.
