Is it possible to disassemble Asus Transformer Book Flip R554L following parts: CPU-Intel Core i7 5500u 3.0 GHz, touch screen digitizer, keyboard, optical disc into assembling new custom desktop pc with newer Intel motherboard, Asus Prime or MSI Pro and DIY briefcase laptop case i will build myself? (turn old laptop into desktop pc briefcase laptop)

Hi Teresa, I think that would be a really cool project, and I’d love to see it somewhat documented when it’s finished (pictures, parts used, howto etc.); the CPU still looks like it can have some use, after all it’s ranked High Mid Range in PassMark and performance-wise it should basically go neck to neck with the Phenom II X4 955 BE I had (and still keep as a spare) in my very first rig some yrs ago, while consuming one 10th of the power. Back to the question, actually I couldn’t find that many FCBGA1168 socket compatible mobos, apart from some in the used market; if you go for a desktop type (e.g. Mini-ITX/MicroATX) mobo and plan to keep the keyboard on your new build, apparently there’s also a way to do that, though honestly it seems that’ll require quite some effort if done from scratch. Same goes with the display, in case you decide to repurpose it and end up buying a desktop PC motherboard, with an LCD controller board you’ll likewise (probably) be able to turn it into an external monitor: Oldturkey here on the forum wrote an awesome guide on how it’s done, if your monitor is compatible and you’re interested in the mod, I suggest you take a look at the full article. For the “case” and optical disc part, you could check out this build, just to give you an idea. Please keep us updated on this amazing project, cheers
