I’m not sure if a PS4 can overheat. When I turn it on its really hot but the more I play on the PS4 it gets cooler. Its not in a small space (that’s what I think at least) sides are open but the backside is at least 5 inches away from a wall. I’m not sure what to do I need answers please.
Yes, a PS4 can overheat. If it does you will see the red light come on and it will beep three times and shut off. If it is just hot and the fan is running high, that’s normal if you are playing a game that requires a lot of CPU/GPU power. It sounds like where you have it is just fine. I would check to be sure that the vents are not dirty or plugged. If it’s not dirty and it gets plenty of air flow then I wouldn’t worry about it…especially since you said it gets cooler as it runs. This doesn’t sound like anything to worry about.
The ps4 is overheating because your ps4 has dust built up in the inside plus if you play for majority of hours

My playstation overheats so much i cant even open a game it shows a message on the screen that my ps4 is overheating and then when you click ok 3 seconds after it shuts down i tried cleaning, air conpresor ,vacuum and it still overheat. My ps4 is not even hot either i check it and its cool i even have a fan and my window is open (its winter). I dont know if its a bug or anything but i dont see anyone else online with this problem and i !#^&@! me off. Whats the point of having a gaming console if i cant even open a game.

For me .When I play it gets hot when I play for around 15 or 20 minutes.But when I knew it is because of the dust I cleaned it then when I started to play it worked but after 25 minutes it became hot
OK so this is normal It just might be that after your done playing that you will turn it off and it will heat up but over time when you turn it on it gets cooler because the fans on so this is totally normal make sure your room isn’t to hot either that will really affect it.
You got to clean the fan in the PS4 and if that don’t work then the PS4 is on it way out so try
No, you don’nt need to clean the invest fan of the ps4 just for cleaning all u have to do is use a vaccum hose to clean the ps4.
I have found out, that playing on disc can cause overheating, I played war thunder(discless game) for 8 hours straight not a problem, the next day after an hour of DMC5 it overheats. What’s happening is when u start playing on a disc game the disc spins around and all that $@$* and it just takes more power to run disc rather than discless games. That’s for me anyway. But I did see a guy on here say he was playing warzone good then the last of us is what did it, I bet he was playing the last of us on disc, or maybe this is just a solution that works for me I dunno. Oh and my PS4 has been used a lot I got it day 1 the release day and the PS4 still worlds amazing downloads take 10-20 minutes longer maybe even an hour because of the dust and stuff but an xtra 10 minutes ain’t too bad. And my internet is really good so that’s why I don’t care only took me like maybe 16 hours to download war zone which back on my old wifi would have easily taken 2 weeks but now I’m free of that sh*t. Yes 16 hours is still quite a bit of time but the game is like 100GB’s. Anyway in conclusion PLAY DISCLESS ITS BETTER and u don’t have to change disc each time u wanna switch game.
