A replacement battery pack for the MacBook Pro arrived and when inspecting it I found that the smallest battery pack had a broken connection to the main power line for all the packs. Top two connections are solid. Broken connection is third from top.
Initially, I’m wondering if this can be resoldered? If so what safty steps do I need to follow? If not can the whole battery run without one unit? Will that cause issues with the rest of it? Do I need to cut the other connection so it is not only connected in one spot? Is the best route just to buy a new pack?
I wouldn’t recommend soldering on a lithium battery. It’s EXTREMELY easy to overheat, short out and light on fire. I would replace it if it was me. But check a few other opinions first.
If that’s how the battery arrived in that condition I would’t trust it. Send it back!
