Keep getting “camera failed” error message. Think I’ve tried everything..factory reset, clearing cache, undtalling flashlights,etc.. Also cant connect to pc via USB cable. Cannot select the “tethering and usb” function..stays blacked out. I need help.
Wiping the cache partition did not work till I then pulled the battery and reinstalled…
Here’s one more trick you might try: Turn your Samsung Galaxy S4 off and hold Volume Up, Home, and Power keys simultaneously until your smartphone starts to vibrate.Let go of Power key and keep pressing the other two.It will get you into Android System Recovery mode.Press Volume Down to choose wipe cache partition and use Power key to select it. Alternatively another trick I’ve used in the past: Connect your device to your computer using a data cable.Go to folder: Computer\SAMSUNG-SGH-I747\Phone\Applidium Image CacheDelete everything in this folder.Go to folder: Computer\SAMSUNG-SGH-I747\Phone\Android\data\com.sec.android.gallery3d\cacheDelete everything in this folder.Restart your phone.
Im having the same problem as the OP, and tried the cache partition reset but still getting the camera failed error, and cant connect to my PC through USB. Any other ideas?
It definitely helped to delete flashlight app and take battery out and restart. Thank you. I now have my camera working

Had the same problem with a failed camera message and PC not recognizing USB connection. Solution - Turn off the phone > Pull the battery > Hold power button for 3 seconds > Reinsert battery > Turn on phone. Camera works from lock screen, cannot confirm beyond that.
Camera application is lost. What is doing?
