Hi, I’ve had my Honeywell HO-5500RE fan for about 2 years and out of the blue when I plug it in it automatically switched on (it never use to, you had to press the on button before it actually turned on) and none of the buttons are working. I’ve tried taking it apart and can’t see anything obvious. Any suggestions? Thanks
Hi @ninko, Post some close up images of the control board and the button board with your question. Others may spot something. Here’s how to do this on Ifixit Adding images to an existing question. If it turned on without having to press the power button it may have been a faulty power button (short circuit contacts?) and now if the power button contacts have burnt out (open circuit) it can’t turn on as the power can’t be switched on. If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) use its Ohmmeter function and with the power disconnected from the fan, check the operation of the power button with the meter to see if the contacts close and open electrically when the button is operated and released. Just a theory but you’ve got to start somewhere.
