Hi i recently bought a xbox one that i am hoping to repair please can someone identify the components i might need to buy if this is at all repairable. Im not sure what could have caused this damage and not entirely sure if someone has already had a go at repairing it already.
Update (07/09/2016) Sorry that i haven’t replied sooner, i have been very busy! Here is a photo of the underside of the board. As im aware there is no damage to the underside whatsoever. Do you think i would be able to fit a new diode? The copper has risen through the top of the board and i cannot think how you would go about removing it. Thanks for your help
Wow that looks like some serious damage! The section of the board you’re looking at right now looks like it’s part of a DC-DC converter, which supplies power to some circuit which presumably carries many, many amps. You might want to start by tracing back where the converter connects to make sure nothing’s shorted, then perhaps try to install a new (is that a power diode that used to be there?). The PCB appears to be damaged, hopefully nothing on the bottom layers is broken.
It looks like the DC regulator circuit suffered a runaway short and the intense heat has melted the copper traces and delaminated the PCB. The damage to the layers underneath is unknown, not to mention other components. I would not hope this board to be repairable.
