Chosen Solution
I have a brother, HL – 3170CDW printer(I had to select the HL-5240 because it was the only choice I had). I have tried every which way to get the status monitor to work with no results. I double click the icon on the desktop, and a little busy wheel turns but nothing happens. I’ve tried to follow the instructions on the brother support page but got nowhere. Is there someone out there who can give me a step-by-step procedure to get this thing working? Thanks. Jim B.
Go to the Brother website, there appears to be a firmware upgrade for this machine. Also if you are trying to install this on a Windows 10 computer: ‘‘Windows 10 Compatibility If you upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, some features of the installed drivers and software may not work correctly. Please uninstall all drivers and software in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 before upgrading to Windows 10. '’
