Printer shows Orange error LED. Supposed to mean out of paper or paper jam. Trouble is, there is lots of paper, and there is no jam. Printer works fine in manual feed. Will not feed from paper tray. Rollers have been cleaned. Any ideas how to get the LED to turn off and enable printing from paper tray? Drum and toner are brand-new .

Please check the back panel of your printer, may be there is any some piece of paper available inside the printer, that’s why you are getting this error. How to fix brother printer paper jam issue.
As @theprinterman alludes to above, the real problem is something called the “drive gear engagement arm” - and if you’re feeling even slightly handy, you can fix this - with nothing more than a spudger (or a butter knife). See here: HL-2280DW paper feed not working
