I was replacing the optical drive in my MacBook Unibody Model A1342 late 2009 when I came to the rear-speaker removal step, and I pryed under the wires, as the documentation instructed. What resulted was not a favorable outcome, instead of the connector seat staying on the logic board, it came off with the 2-contact connector still in it. Am I looking at re-soldering, or what? I have no knowledge in that field. If this is the case, would there be any easier-to-deal-with alternatives?
I did the same thing on this machine so don’t feel bad. You can live with it or do what I ended up doing and send it in to Apple for a flat rate repair for $280. Or see if you can find a really compent repair guy to reattach it. In my opinion this is not a self repair job.
