Even when I make sure to set my screen brightness as low as it will go the screen auto brightens five seconds later back to about 60 percent brightness
This might be obvious, but are you clicking the apply/save button (if there is one) after adjusting the brightness. Also, check to see if you have an auto-brightness feature turned on.
