I just bought a brand new LG K3 from best buy, and was excited to turn it on being the tech person I am….but to my surprise the phone did not power on! I thought it just needed to be charged. So I charged it for 2 and a half hours, and nothing. The only time something shows up on the screen is when the battery is removed and plugged into the wall. But then it just shows an insert battery sign. Is my brand new phone defective? Please Help! Update (02/27/2017) I charged it overnight…..nothing Update (02/27/2017) It did something! Idk what I did but I tried to turn it on and it showed he battery loading screen but then shut off. Before it was nothing! If i plug the cord in while holding the power button it actually shows the lg logo for a couple of seconds but I cannot get it to turn on. Though if I put my phone close to my ear while charging I can hear a ticking sound……is that worrying? Anyways I have it charging now and I will check on it when I get home. Update (02/27/2017) Any ideas? I got close when I got it to turn on for 5 secs showing the lg screen, it still does it but I have to hold the power button and plug it in. Only other sign of life is sometimes when I plug it in it shows a battery with a loading wheel for two secs then goes away….
@thatsfantastic since you just bought it I recommend that you return it. Now is not the time to try and repair it. You spend hard earned money on this so let Best Buy rectify this.

I think I need a new battery. I got it to boot up perfectly with a different battery, but it is too big, and had to be held on with tape. Even with the new battery, I eventually got a notification in android saying invalid battery, which is expected while using a battery from another phone. They are only 16 bucks….
