Chosen Solution
I just purchased a replacement home button from ifixit and it worked for about 10 clicks, but stopped working. I took it back apart and double-checked the install and everything was correct. turned it back on to test and same issue. Worked for a few clicks then stopped again. Now it will randomly work on and off, but only for a few clicks then back to non-functional. This was a new screen replacement also purchased from ifixit
From what I’ve seen is most 3rd party home buttons never work reliably so that’s more than likely what it is happening. From all the 3rd party buttons I’ve used I haven’t found a reliable one.
