So as I’m replacing my iPhone 7 battery, both adhesive straps broke instantly, and the battery smells kinda off. I tried prying, but I’m afraid of burning the house down. I’m at a loss. What do I do now.
The iFixit guide recognizes that those things break all the time and actually added instructions for what to do in that case. Go to step 28 of the iPhone 7 Battery Replacement guide and follow the instructions there. iPhone 7 Battery Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide Get yourself some 90% or greater isopropyl alcohol, an iOpener or hair dryer, maybe some dental floss or guitar string, or a stiff plastic card like a playing card or a credit card. Just don’t use anything metal to pry with and take care not to bend the battery or tear the covering. You can do it!
