Hello everyone, When my GPU stopped working i removed the motherboard for inspection. I re-flowed my GPU with flux and it works, i can acces the boot utility. But when i put my OSX lion dvd in and the apple logo appears it start beeping 3 times. I switched many different kinds of RAM and still no succes. Can anyone help me with this problem? Maybe a component has died? Thanks! iMac 2012, i5 3,1, 1 TB, 6970 1GB, 8 GB RAM
Let’s start out with correctly identifying your machine. I believe it is this one: Apple iMac “Core i5” 3.1 27-Inch (Mid-2011) Specs Identifiers: Mid-2011 - MC814LL/A - iMac12,2 - A1312 - 2429 As the only 3.1 GHz machine in 2012 was a 21.5" Next well find the exact RAM that is supposed to go into it. As to the problem, I suspect a failed or contaminated RAM slot. I want you to pull all but one stick. Boot the machine to make sure the stick is good. Then start moving that know stick to the other slots till you get a failure.
