I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT270 Blu-Ray 4k Player. That was not an option under devices so I said I have a BD 89 in order to get this question posted. The remote no longer works with my Blu-Ray player. Can’t turn it on with remote. I can, however, turn it on manually… but then the remote still won’t work to allow me to move on-screen to select Episodes or scenes on the DVD. It just shows it’s on the TV but won’t play the disc inserted in it. In summary, I can only turn the blu-ray player on and off manually. Remote won’t do anything. Also, I have changed batteries and then bought a replacement remote and that doesn’t work either.

Hi, If a replacement remote doesn’t work either try “re-pairing” the remote to the unit. According to the User guide: ‘‘The remote control does not work properly:The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Turn on this unit by using the standby/on switch on this unit, and check “Remote control”, which is displayed on the screen when you press a button on the remote control. Press and hold [OK] and the displayed number (" “) for more than 5 seconds” If it doesn’t register a remote signalling, there may be a problem with the IR sensor (behind the window to the right of the Power LED - hopefully the window is not being blocked by anything in front of it)

Hi mel4650  I suspect it could be due to photodiode failure on the player, thus unable to capture the signal. If you can see the movie menu, etc, generally it should be fine, but I suggest performing additional checks to test on different kind of disk if it plays or being identified…. e.g. CD - Pass / Fail DVD - Pass / Fail Blu-Ray - Pass / Fail

MAKE SURE THAT THE IR LIGHT FLASHS WHEN YOU PUSH A BUTTON YOU REMOTE IF I DONT LIGHT UP YOU MIGHT NEEN TO RELPACE THE IR LIGHT OR TRY ANY UNIVERSAL REMOTE YOU’LL CAN A CHEP ONE FROM WALMART FOR around 5 bucks.

Hi @somvetboxer3r Here’s the user manual for the player. Try to reset the player by following the directions as shown on p.28 under To return all settings to the factory preset. and check if that works. Here’s a link from the service manual that may explain it better
