Chosen Solution
This same problem just occurred to my TV (same model 47LG70). After removing the green rubber sheath (not sure why that is even on it), the varistor looks OK. Everything on my circuit board looks ok. Did replacing your varistor solve your problem?? Any other help appreciated.
