So my phone hasn’t been dropped recently tho I did receive it through a courier service but it was tightly packed, there’s a black sort of shadow that appears on the lower end of my screen only sometimes, it quickly disappears if I readjust my brightness. First time it appeared I restarted my phone and it was normal for quite a while and it appeared again but I changed the brightness and It got normal again. I’m concerned is this going to get worse and is at a hardware issue ? Do I need to be concerned ?
I would remove the pentalobe screws and lift the screen and see if the shadow goes away as there could be something underneath causing a bit of pressure. You would then have to rule out a faulty screen. If a replacement screen is still the same it will be one of your backlight circuits that has failed. I have had a few like yours on the 8 plus but the shadow was larger.
If you are familiar with a multimeter you could check the six pins in the red square on the LCD connector. If any of them read “OL” it will be a backlight issue on the logic board and a replacement screen will not help.
