Chosen Solution
I have been using a 8gb 1.3v PC3L ram on my laptop which had 4gb 1.5v DDR3. At first my system stem was all good and I installed a lot of apps in the now 12gb ram. But lately it has been misbehaving. It has started having a blue screen of death citing disk error. It has also been very slow and having apps not responding when am working. I chose to revert in using only 4gb ram but when I switched it on it show a black screen while having blinking lights on the caps lock and scroll key. What is the problem. My laptop is elite book 8470p core I5
Hi Paul, Sorry to hear your having problems with your laptop. I would start by checking what the blink codes mean. You can do that by noting the duration of the blinks and then looking on the HP support website. If you are eventually able to boot your laptop into either the BIOS or the operating system I would run a program called MEMTEST86 which checks for RAM errors. I would also use a disk checking software such as CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of your drive and see if it is failing. Hope this helps!
