Hi all. I have a Mid 2014 15 inch Macbook Pro. Today I left for while with the computer plugged in and the lid open. When I got back home and tried to log back in I noticed it took some time for the computer to display the login screen. Actually I had to press a few buttons and the trackpad quite a few times to get there. Once I was able to see the login screen I noticed that the battery indicator displayed only 1% of battery although the computer was plugged in for a while. The magsafe 2 had the red light as if it were charging. When I logged in i immediately went to the battery indicator to see what was going on and it displayed “Plugged in, not charging” and that the power source was the power adapter. Just a few seconds after this the screen went black again, as it was when I arrived (I have the Google Hot Trends screensaver so that was odd the first time). Again I started to press keys (Esc, Power, Enter) and the trackpad untill I saw the login screen. This time the battery indicated 100% charge, but there was still a red light on the Magsafe 2. I logged in again, but immediately after that the screen went black agin. After that I could not get into the login screen so I started with the suggestions online. I did an SMC reset both with the adapter plugged in and unplugged, but still could not get to the login screen again. I used the kay combination to reset NVRAM but it was clearly impossible it would work since there is absolutely no response from the computer, no chime, no lights, no noises, no video, nothing. Just once I could get back to the login screen, but again that was only a few seconds and went back to black again. Since this last time I’ve reet SMC a few times and tried everything mentioned in forums. I’ve pressed absolutely all the keys in the computer and nothing happens. I don’t know what to do now, the computer is absolutely unresponsive, there is no sign at all of activity, except when resetting SMC with the power adapter plugged in, which turns off and on the magsafe 2 light. Thanks for any help you can give me. Regards Eduardo

Okay. So I managed to get the computer working, but there’s still something going on with the battery charging. I can’t exactly describe how this was done so I’ll try to describe what I did. I left the computer charging with the lid closed overnight. In the morning the light on the Magsafe 2 was still red, so I assumed nothing happened. I tried again everything I did the day before with no luck. I finally closed the lid and left the computer closed and unplugged for a few hours. Then just before removing the drive to back it up and send it to Apple (I’m in Argentina so that’s quite a long way) I decided to give it a last try. With the computer disconnected I pressed the power button and got the low battery icon! This meant that obviously the screen was working and so was the LogicBoard apparently. I connected the computer and I could power it on. It eventually started charging. I had of course 0 mAh in the battery. Now after a full day of working and eventually getting the battery to reach 100% I disconnected the comuter. That went ok, it worked with the battery. But when I plugged it back in it it came up again as “Battery Is Not Charging”. I will retry an SMC reset and NVRAM reset, but I think it might need technical service from Apple. Regards
