I have an HP 15.6 HD touch display laptop. About a year ago battery went bad. Forgot about it. Finally ordered a replacement. Got it today and put it in & charged it. The wifi light and power lights come on but screen remains black. I went thru a few steps offered on the hp website but nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi @missmarymack83 Try replacing the CMOS battery. Should be a small battery about the size of a coin attached to the main board. Hopefully you can access it easily by removing a panel on the bottom of the laptop.
@missmarymack83 attach an external monitor and see what that shows. It is possible that this is a bad display. It is also possible that your computer’s HDD has failed
