hello, last year I bought I brand new MacBook Air (2020) and i’ve had it for around 8 months so its fairly new. I had wet hands and clicked on the key board and then about 5 mins later it completely shut down and won’t turn on but it makes the turning on noise. I sent it in to apple and they said that it was water damage and they said its not worth replacing because the cost of repair is more than the laptop itself, the quoted me 1550 euros to repair ( apparently it need a new display, electrics and a new motherboard) I need a laptop for my studies but as I don’t know much about computers I was wondering if its true that I need all of that or if they’re trying to upcharge me. I don’t know if i should just get rid of the computer entirely and its annoying as even when it was brand new it was always very slow for a new laptop. thanks in advance

Elenore, they are more than likely upcharging you. apple is definitely in the game to make you pay more. first DONT TURN IT ON ANYMORE especially if you dont have to. the more its on the more it can short other stuff out and makes it harder to repair. i would recommend finding a reputable shop that does apple repair. northridgefix and louisrossman on youtube are both GREAT shops to send apple products or electronics in general. theyre located in the USA tho BUT if you email them they might have someone in the UK they could recommend to you. (you said euros so i assume youre over the pond :) ) good luck!
