Hi, I saw an add for a mid 2014 21,5” imac that was bricked after an attempt to update to Big Sur. Mine is a Late 2015 and it has only one LED on the motherboard (power ok) and also does nothing. Can this also be the Big Sur faulty update situation ? I got mine second hand, don’t know the history. I guess it needs a new logic board. Or should I try to change the processor first as it would have the 2nd LED lit if it would be a GPU problem. Thank you for your reply. Update (02/05/2021) Just realized the CPU is soldered to the board.
While Apple did have an issue with some MacBook Pro’s with the upgrade failing. I have not heard of any issues with the iMac’s MacBook Bricked By Big Sur? Here’s How To Fix It. The issue is with the I/O board in these systems. So… I would visit an Apple Store to see what they say with both systems in hand. They should be able to address the issue if it was a Big Sure defect.
