Hi, I spilled water on my computer (macbook pro retina A1398). Now the screen is black, but the computer works fine when connected to an external monitor. When illuminated from the back, the center of the screen is visible. I checked the backlight fuse (water spill damage, external monitor works) and it’s fine. I don’t see anything burnt in the lcd connector or around it (pictures below) . Any suggestions? Many thanks, Ari

That screen ribbon cable looks a bit damaged on the pins, some of the plastic on the left and right ends are worn and one or two pins are close to breaking off. When you put it back together be careful of the display cable, make sure the cabling goes under the metal part which has the screw hole for the bottom cover (top right) and not over as that will damage the cable when you try to plug in the screen cable due to it being too short. I recommend taking it to a reputable repair shop that does board-repairs for MacBooks as some components for the backlight need to be replaced. It’s most likely going to be the backlight driver chip and some other small components related to the backlight circuit. Keyboard is definitely going to need to be replaced as if it works now it’s going to go bad really quickly later due to water going in the keyboard.
