My system: Mac mini (Mid 2011) 2.7 GHz Intel Core i78 GB 1333 MHz DDR3AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB It serves me quite well as I only do basic computing, but I am interested in maximizing the quality and resolution of my monitor, buying a used one on FB Marketplace or the like. I am currently using a very old HP monitor and only getting 1680x1050. :( My question is: what is the largest resolution that my system can handle and what should I be looking for in a used monitor? Thanks

Your Mac Mini’s specs: Mac mini 2.7 GHz Core i7 (Mid-2011) Sadly, you won’t see anything better than 1920x1200 via HDMI

This is a bit confusing! As you would need a Thunderbolt based display or a DisplayPort based display and it needs to support the newer spec.

You might want to look at the new 2020 Mac Mini with a 5K/6K display support if you need ultra high graphics. I’m thinking on getting one to replace my tired 2011 27"
