My PS4 CUH-1215A Disc drive does read disc but does not play. I can hear constant tapping sound and gives different error code with different disc. I tried all option like cleaning disk, updating and rebuilding database in safe mode but no luck. However the drive reads some DVD . Not sure what’s wrong? If drive is faulty how can it read the DVD. I could not play any physical disc games? I don’t want to replace the drive any repair to the disc is possible? Please advise
@manwas … the tapping sounds are typically caused by the roller guide pin being dislodged or damaged. you will want to tear down the unit to gain access to the drive and then open up the drive to see what can be done. this guide where get you to the optical drive. from there, open the drive and take a gander.
