Hello. I had an iPhone that had microphone failure of which I replaced the microphone and charging port. Prior to this the phone was charging with no issues. However following the replacement the phone will no longer turn on (battery could be dead). I switched the logic board into another iPhone which had a charged battery and the phone turned on but again it would not charge. any advice on this? Is this an issue with the logic board? cheers

It sounds like a bad tristar ic. The tristar chip controls the charging and data transfer. If you use an aftermarket charging cable that’s not MFI Certified it can cause a voltage spike and damage the chip. You can take it to a repair shop and they can test the tristar chip. Update (06/09/2020) Unless you can microsolder I don’t think there is anything you can do. You can send it to a repair shop. I would recommend jessa at ipad rehab ipadrehab.com.

Update: I just reversed the process of switching the logic boards. (The fully functional one into the one with the broken replaced microphone). After charging for 10 mins no power. Would seem maybe another issue with the other handset?
