Hi I spilt a beer on my MacBook Pro 15 retina mid-2012 model. After drying in the airing cupboard for a week I tried switching on the machine and to my amazement it worked! The only problem being that the computer isn’t recognising the battery. I have tried reseting the Vram and Pram. No use. After this I have tried to install a new battery. I have taken the maching apart to clean the board but nothing is working. All suggestions online are to replace the logic board as something may have fried on the board but I was hoping some clever people on here may be able to help with my problem?
You need to try another (borrowed) known-good battery, just to make sure everything is A-OK. Was your new battery known-good ? “New” doesn’t mean anything with Li-Poo batteries. Your local computer repair shop has lots of batteries for testing. If they don’t, you’re in the wrong shop. My favorite rocket-scientist can also test your charging power without dis-assembly. The battery charging circuits, are in the battery. The power regulators are on the main board. Both are easily damaged by moisture, especially beer! Alas, the circuit inside the battery cannot be fixed. Does you battery have the tiny battery-power-level lights? They will not work if the circuit is bad. Its a designed-in safety issue… there’s no way around it.
