Chosen Solution

Hi, I bought an Ifixit battery replacement for dell xps 13, replacement went well, first test successful, battery was charging with 130Wh AC adapter. After recommended battery calibration, full charge and complete discharge by the computer, the battery is not charging anymore. bios tells battery charging status: idle, health status: excellent, no power is transferred to the battery I am left with 2% battery life in the new one. Switching ac adaptor does not help. I put in the old battery again, which is charging with the mentioned 130Wh adaptor, but doesn’t hold capacity…. Is there a known solution for this situation?

Updating the BIOS and drivers may help: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-nz/… Diagnostics could be run from https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-nz/… Did you use this method to recalibrate? https://help.ifixit.com/article/265-batt… Are you sure the charger is the correct one for the DELL laptop? Maybe you missed a step in the calibration? Perhaps try it again? That system is about 7 years old. Have you replaced the CMOS battery recently? (Repeating myself here) You could run the Dell Dignostics ( number 12 in list & 15 reset BIOS to default): https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-nz… Also you could look in the Service Manual pdf: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-nz/… Let us know how it goes.
