Chosen Solution
Battery was replaced and the phone was reassembled. I recharged the battery fully to 100%. I then updated the firmware to the new iOS version 10. Now when I plug in to charge the battery it will not recognize the charger/cable. I have tried several chargers and cables and nothing works. Does iOS 10 blacklist third party batteries?
Sounds like a defective battery.
