Chosen Solution

Hey, i just bought a second hand “refurbished” macbook 7.1 13inch. it has a 250gb ssd and 8 gigs of ram in it. i got it refurbished and the battery just got replaced. coconutbattery confirmed that it was the first charging cycle(no idea if they put in a original one but not very likely). i have snow leopard running on it now. since i got it though it shuts down appruptly between 50% and 30% without a warning or whatever. i tried SMC and PRAM RESET but nothing would help. i m afraid it might be the logic board. i heard there are issues with the charging module or so sometimes. anyone ideas? i tried booting of the cd doning the “intense” hardware check but it came out fine. thanks matt

Try resetting the SMC - it can fix a bunch of battery related issues. If your battery is non-removable:

  1. Shut down the MacBook.
  2. Plug in the power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.
  3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac If the battery IS removable:
  5. Shut down the Mac.
  6. Disconnect the power adapter from the Mac.
  7. Remove the battery.
  8. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  9. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  10. Press the power button to turn on the Mac.
