I spilled milk tea on my macbook and immediately took it to an authorized service provider near me who had the left I/O board replaced along with the flex cable. However, when I received my macbook back I noticed it stopped charging beyond a certain percentage and the charger was only powering it. I clicked on the battery icon in the menu bar and it said that the battery was not charging. I used another charger albeit a knock off but a very good one as it had been working perfectly fine with my macbook prior to the replacement and it charged my macbook too but then stopped charging it and held the power at 6% while I had it plugged in.I took it back to the service provider who tried a genuine magsafe adapter and it charged for a while but also stopped after 41%. I’m not sure what the issue could’ve been since the I/O left board and flex cable had been replaced and I wasn’t experiencing this problem before even when my battery icon said that my battery needs to be replaced soon. Could the service providers not have cleaned the liquid spill properly because I found traces of dried tea on the screen and other parts so I’m supposing they didn’t “clean” it well. Or did they not install something properly ? So what could the issue be? UPDATE 19/04/21 Couldn’t pick my laptop up today and install coconut battery due to stores being closed around the city. I asked the service providers how they diagnosed this time around that it was a battery issue and this is what they said:

UPDATE 21/04/21

Here are the coconut battery screenshots, with and without the charger (knock off) connected. The service providers also finally admitted that it’s a logic board issue and they removed the replaced left I/O board and flex cable in order to refund my payment.

Sadly Apple service diagnostics is not designed for someone with a brain ;-{ The cycle count is at the bottom in small print instead of being front and center! 1,354 so it is beyond its cycle count of 1,000 of expected life Determine battery cycle count for Mac notebooks Without seeing CoconutBattery output its hard to say what the state of the battery is as well as the charging logic. So while it’s over its expected life span we don’t have enough information to know if there is something more going on here. As to why the MagSafe LED is not responding correctly its likely the logic board has gotten wet around the SMC (Blue) and/or Current/DC Power Sensors (Purple) which is located on the top side of the logic board (the backside looking from the bottom)
