I have a 5s that isn’t water damaged and the battery drains really quick in standby. It has been updated and I’ve replaced the battery. Any ideas?
Hi James In my case it was two inductors on the logic board are broken and that’s why the phone doesn’t hold battery. I would suggest to open the phone, remove the metal protections on the motherboard and inspect for any damaged components. Good luck
Hi James, Approximately how long does your iPhone 5s battery last in standby mode? I recently changed my iPhone 5s battery and I’m getting only 11.5 hours in strictly standby mode (not using the phone at all). After installing the new battery, I made sure it was calibrated properly by letting it drain to 0% and then did an uninterrupted full charge afterwards. Not sure how long the standby mode of newly installed ifixit battery should be but I’m guessing it has to be more than 11.5 hours on purely standby mode starting from 100% charge amount. Update (02/24/2016) Hi James, I believe my issue has been resolved. After installing the new battery from ifixit, my battery was draining very fast because I was using a 3rd party iPhone charger. After letting my battery drain to 0% completely, I decided to plug in an authentic Apple iPhone charger into my 5s. Lo and behold, the excessive draining is not there anymore! I’m averaging about 10% decrease for every 2 hours of standby mode. So I’m roughly getting close to 20 hours from full charge to complete 0% battery life. Before I was getting less than 11 hours from full charge to 0% battery life. Try using an authentic Apple charger and charger cable if you haven’t yet. I hope this helps.
Do you have a history of using 3rd party chargers? Does the phone feel warm/hot anywhere on the board? I assume you got a high quality battery and not some cheap one? How was the battery life before you swapped the battery?
My iPhone 5s in airplane mode just sitting in standby was 13 1/2 days. It’s my backup phone so I just wanted to see and it lasted that long but I only woke it up once every couple days to see how it was doing.
